Current Open Positions

The Manufacturing Operator performs manufacturing processes of solid dose tablets and capsules, and semi-solids, in accordance with SOPs, approved batch records, and cGMP procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

Weighs and samples development and commercial manufacturing batches in accordance with applicable SOPs.
Sets up, operates, breaks down and cleans equipment to be used in manufacturing activities in accordance with SOPs and equipment specifications.
Performs scheduled manufacturing activities in accordance with approved batch records.
Performs appropriate in-process and verification tests of manufactured products during the manufacturing process.
Provides appropriate documentation of manufacturing processes and test results including maintaining and reconciling equipment and room use log books, batch records, and inventory records in accordance with SOPs.
Performs appropriate cleaning of equipment and the facility in accordance with SOPs and cGMP procedures.
Troubleshoots equipment during the manufacturing process.
Performs departmental training on equipment and processes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

To qualify for an Operator II- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. 2-5 years’ experience working with solid dose and or liquid manufacturing equipment and processes.
To qualify for an Operator III- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Five plus years primary experience working with solid dose and or semisolid manufacturing equipment and processes preferred.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. UPM does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Responsible for the preparation (set-up and assembly), operation, disassembly of all packaging equipment for solid dosage (tablets and capsules) and semi-solids in accordance with SOPs, approved batch records, and cGMP procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

Performs the assembly and disassembly of the equipment and line as required for packaging bulk product activities in accordance with SOPs and equipment specifications; includes the start up, operations, and shut down of all packaging equipment and/or line.
Verifies and assists packaging mechanics in staging of components and bulk product for the required line; assists in the process of cleaning and line clearance.
Performs appropriate in-process and verification tests during the packaging process.
Provides appropriate documentation of packaging processes and test results including maintaining and reconciling equipment and room use log books, batch records, and inventory records in accordance with SOPs.
Performs appropriate cleaning of equipment and the facility in accordance with SOPs and cGMP procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

3 years’ experience in a manufacturing/packaging environment or 2 years of applicable pharmaceutical experience. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Experience working with solid dose and semi-solid packaging equipment and processes is desirable.

Direct involvement with all new equipment installations and integrations for Manufacturing and Packaging. Perform technological upgrades of Manufacturing and Packaging equipment. Work with Maintenance to trouble shoot equipment related issues. Represent Operations with manufactures / vendors for new equipment purchases, existing equipment upgrades, and repair of legacy equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

Develop expertise in aggregation / serialization equipment technologies in Packaging.
Develop expertise in new equipment operation and softwares in Manufacturing on Fette presses, coaters, roller compactors.
Develop expertise in legacy equipment operation and softwares in Manufacturing and Packaging on fluid bed dryers, coaters, tablet presses, encapsulation machines, labelers, bundlers, sealers, etc.
Provide oversight for production equipment calibrations and scheduling with equipment manufacturers.
Provide training guidance to manufacturing / packaging on proper equipment set up and operation.
Provide guidance to engineering on new equipment selection and/or legacy equipment replacements on capital projects.
Interface with equipment manufacturers on performance specifications for new equipment.
Work with manufacturing, maintenance and engineering in optimizing new and legacy equipment.
Other duties as may be required.

Knowledge Necessary to Perform the Job:

Knowledge of cGMP practices is essential.
Knowledge of company manufacturing, packaging, and equipment SOPs is essential.
Knowledge of processes related to the packaging of solid dose pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
The ability to distinguish the proper type of tool to be used for a specific job.

Education/Experience:

Two-year certificate from a technical college or vocational school preferred or a high school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of experience with a strong electrical / electronic based background. Experience troubleshooting motor controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), CompactLogix controllers, and a working knowledge of engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering flow diagrams highly preferred. General knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing or experience in a regulated industry preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience or training is acceptable.

The Maintenance Technician II and III must be highly motivated, able to work safely in accordance with OSHA standards, effective as both an independent self-starter and cooperatively with others. This work must be planned and executed to meet crucial deadlines, efficiently serving our clients and build the success of UPM. This is a rotating, 7-day, on-call position.

General Duties

Familiarity with a GMP environment.
Maintain air compressors, dryers, and related equipment.
Experience with installation of new and used equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) as scheduled.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical failure of production machines.
Working knowledge of engineering drawings, electrical schematics, engineering flow diagrams and basic shop math.
Trained in operation of forklifts, skyjacks, hand and power tools and basic machine shop skills.

Boiler Attendant:

Boiler attendant shall report to the boiler room and perform beginning of shift routine daily testing and maintenance requirements including boiler water column test.
Boiler attendant shall contact the remote station to verify proper operation of the communication system (phone) and the annunciation system for each boiler.
Boiler attendant or Remote Operator shall return to the boiler room every 4 hours to verify normal operation and log visit.
Boiler attendants may not leave the premises during the shift unless properly relieved of duties.
