Baltimore, MD, September 7, 2010 –To meet the increasing demand for direct API-in-capsule product requests, UPM has purchased the Capsugel Xcelodose® 600 S Powder Micro-dosing System. The 600 S is a precise powder dispenser with the ability to dose as low as 100 micrograms. With the optional RH Control Unit, also purchased, % relative humidity can be controlled to within 1% of the desired target. This feature will enable UPM to process challenging compounds such as those that are prone to static, poorly flowing or hygroscopic, while maintaining precise dispensing and product integrity.
Together with its previously purchased Xcelodose 600, UPM is well equipped for automated, small scale, low dose powder handling with minimal waste and shorter drug development delivery times. UPM also owns the MG Planeta 50, Bonapace Incap, Shinogi Qualifil and various Fenton fillers that provide a broad range and capacity for powder filling projects.
Fully appreciating that time-to-market is critical, UPM offers remarkably flexible, affordable, and rapid outsourcing services designed to meet clients' specific development and manufacturing needs. Our clients represent both small and large companies within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, as well as academic institutions who have a focus on clinical studies.
