UPM PHARMACEUTICALS® INC. IMPLEMENTS FORMWEIGH.NET
Baltimore, MD, February 1, 2010 - UPM Pharmaceuticals®, Inc. is pleased to announce the completed implementation of Mettler Toledo’s FormWeigh.Net®. This integration will enhance UPM’s ability to efficiently and accurately control its inventories, and quality environment within its Baltimore facility.
The system is a Mettler Toledo software/hardware package with 21 CFR, Part 11 compliant functions that include audit trails, electronic signatures and device identification, all in the context of a password protected weighing, inventory and process/formulation system. “FormWeigh.Net®” is designed to accurately weigh, control and track raw materials, package goods, and finished products by the use of integrated scales, barcode scanners and thermal transfer printers in a wireless networking environment. The system covers location and quality pathways in a material’s lifecycle, from receipt through finished goods. The FormWeigh.Net® manufacturing carts allow operators to execute weighing, counting and processing steps with real time integration into inventory management. The system has the additional potential to supplement batch record documentation in critical pathway analysis and confirmation. John Connell UPM’s Executive Director of Technical Services states, “In a diverse and international client base, where documented quality and safety are critical for compliance, the integration of FormWeigh.Net® into UPM’s manufacturing process represents the next level of secure and transparent document/inventory control systems.” UPM Pharmaceuticals®, Inc. is a Baltimore-based contract development and manufacturing organization providing customized formulation development, manufacturing, and analytical services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and veterinary clients.
Fully appreciating that time-to-market is critical, UPM offers remarkably flexible, affordable, and rapid outsourcing services designed to meet clients’ specific development and manufacturing needs. UPM’s clients represent both small and large companies, within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and academic institutions who have a focus on clinical studies.
